Hopefully I can get it done today!
I forgot I was going to put some black trim on one of the dresses! I'm going to let a friend borrow it for the event Saturday - so DROP EVERYTHING AND SEW!!!!
Hopefully I can get it done today!

Well, I was going to get back to my heraldic glossary.... but... I kinda got distracted. Again.
On the bright side, I collected a variety of medieval sheet music and have made some real progress on the Big Book O' Basque Names! (And ordered a recorder - I've been wanting to get back in to playing that. I never should have set it down when I was a kid....) There are still two more needing done.... well, technically four since I need the DW spacers. I won't have time to get them done by Saturday. I'm going to set this project aside for a while and work on my Heraldic Glossary! I have a looooooong way to go and it has been neglected for quite some time now.
It will make things a LOT easier when I finish it, though. Really could have used it earlier this week... Anyway - on to the pennants! They ARE finished on both sides and I didn't bother making sure to take pictures of the best side - this is the front of each. There are two left drying - I'll put up some individual pictures in the next couple days! But now it's late and I've been touching up and finishing these all day - time to go watch cartoons and hang out with the husband! ^_^
Painting, painting, painting....
The basic images have not changed or multiplied - simply layer and layer and layer of paint is added. Looks like I'll be able to get both sides finished, after all! I did take yesterday off, though. Frustration got the best of me and it was time for some spring cleaning. Getting rid of a lot of knick-knacks and other things that are not appreciated or used to their full potential. By the time I got finished rounding stuff up and cleaning, there wasn't time for much else. Hopefully I'll have the whole pennant string finished in a few more days! Tomorrow we're having a sewing guild and I'm not sure how much will get done... but most of saturday and sunday can be spent on this. All that's left on the DW pennants is the swords on one side! WOO! Well, for the moment, halfway there. Think it's the third from the left that has both sides finished - the rest are one side only. I still hope to have both sides done in time - but I'm going to leave it at this for now.
Started on the individuals and they are coming along pretty quick. The hardest ones belong to the Prince and one of the pirates. A hawk with knotwork inside and a harpy, respectively. Both are seriously awesome looking but tricky to draw by hand. More pictures later! I have the next three days set aside for painting on the pennants!
The event is only a couple weeks away and I'm not sure I will have the whole thing done in time. (I got distracted yesterday. I've been asked to design a coat of arms and spent most of the day on sketches to get the ball rolling) To the brushes! So, I took a deep breath and blew a lot more money than I normally spend on anything other than groceries. Got lots of little things and a couple little big things. Picked up a sewing awl for the husband (he has taken an interest in leather working) and a woodburning tool for me ^_^ Not great - but not bad for a first attempt. I'll keep messing with the thing, though. I love the smell of it ^_^
I've also been working on site tokens for the event after next with NOS. It will be a Viking themed event taking place on St. Patrick's day. I am not entirely sure how many tokens I'll need to make - I had the supplies on hand for 16 so I've been focusing on those. But I picked up more while on the shopping spree so I just need a number! It's been a long and only mildly productive few days. Further touch-ups on pennants, a bit more in the Russian Names file and helping a friend by proof-reading a story she is writing.
I'm looking forward to having tomorrow off! As it IS Superbowl Weekend - I will most likely not be leaving the house. I just love football-free weekends! ^_^ Never could get in to sports - but the people who do can get a bit fanatical around here. If you leave the house you are bound to run in to a lot of grumpy people who would rather be home watching the game or are rushing to get back to it. Dangerous and unpleasant. |
