Went to an event last weekend and started working more seriously on knitting. I've nothing to show for it because I have done nothing but practice. I'll knit four or five rows, pull it out and start over. Trying to get the hang of the motions and still feel incredibly awkward. It will take time.
My project while sick has mostly been a Medieval Tailors Dictionary of Terms. I've been collecting the names for the various garments and trying to date everything properly. I think I'm almost done....
Additionally, we picked up the wood for the stargazer chair we will be making as a prize for the event in July. 16 ft. of 2X10 oak.
We got a HUGE discount because we found a very warped piece.
That will just make the seat back more comfortable ^_^
Technically this was enough for two chairs - but due to a miscalculation, made a bad cut. Oops... It will be one awesome chair and a bench or something.
I figure it's just as well - it will be a really heavy chair...
I'm hoping we can work on getting it cut the rest of the way today so I can start cleaning and burning on it - but if not, I will begin on the next two dragon pinatas.
The first one is too heavy and the weight is off - next one I will have a loop of rope for both neck and tail to ensure balance. I was wanting to avoid two loops.. but that just isn't going to happen. *grump* It's the safest way to be sure I can keep it light. (The husband is trying to talk me in to hanging them from trees at the event but I'm wanting people to run around the list field with them making it a real challenge. Even with regular stationary pinatas they blindfold people to make it challenging - we aren't blindfolding anyone!
