Okay - so I didn't have the presence of mind for before and after pictures.
Stupid, I know.
But I was enthusiastic!!
I found a note online about how to get rid of old stains from the carpet. An odd and somewhat unpleasant sounding solution....
Spray clear Windex on the stain, place a white towel over it and iron it in 10 second bursts with the iron on the Cotton setting.
I read a lot of 'Scorched the carpet' notes, so I went with 5 second bursts... and it worked! There are a number of stains that were firmly in place when we bought the house and I've tried a few different stain removers that did nothing but lighten them up a bit.
This removed them completely. In less than five minutes.
Smelled kinda funky... but who cares?! THE STAINS ARE GONE!!!!
Well... most of them. I ran out of Windex. And clean spots on the towel.... I wish I had snapped a pic of the one in font of the TV that was bothering me the most. It was very dark and ugly... nothing but clean carpet there now! ~BLISS~
And that is how I spent my afternoon!
